Craft from other places

It’s been a busy time in the Menders’ household and we’ve started the year in full craft mode with flower crown workshops, quilt making and a host of bookings to look forward to. Lovely reviews are blooming and we’re so excited to get into the swing of craft partying in 2019!
You may remember an earlier post about my trip to Japan at the end of last year. There is so much to see but the one memory I will keep forever is their dedication to handmade crafts. Their respect for the skills and creativity of making without mechanisation is supreme and I wanted to showcase this at my sashiko workshop in February.
Sashiko is the Japanese embroidery art using their beautiful linen fabrics and the simplest of stitches to create patterns and meaning. It’s now becoming a bit of a thing both on Instagram and in the wider world of hand crafts. Accessible to anyone with a needle and thread, it’s really fun for those just dipping their toes into making something.
If you’re really interested in this or any other craft, don’t hesitate to contact us at Makedomenders and we’ll happily start you on your craft journey.
