Fabulous fabric – Makedomenders’ love of print
Posted on: June 16, 2015
Recently, Bee’s daughter, Laura, visited the Lancaster mills of Standfast & Barracks where many of the iconic Liberty fabrics are printed, most notably Tana lawn (above is the gorgeous Sheona Rose). Laura is Production Coordinator for Liberty Fabrics so has a real inside view into all the processes that these fabrics go through in order to reach us.
If you ever wondered about the quality of such fantastic fabrics and why they’ve achieved such status, take a look at this video from the Liberty TV. The number of processes that it takes to prepare, print and finish the cloth is mind-boggling. And it’s all done in the Great Old Country of Britain. A big hurrah for that!
Did you know that the fabric has to be singed with wee little flames before being washed, and washed, and washed again before any of the printing can take place?
We love Liberty fabrics so much and like our parties to join the love so we often bring some for our quiltmaking and corsage making workshops. These are perfect events for hen parties and celebrating the upcoming wedding. Contact Bee for details of our simply printastic craft hen parties!
